As I explored the ideas of freedom that I mentioned in the album introduction, I found myself realizing that ‘freedom’ without love-- love that truly loves my neighbor AS I love myself, isn’t freedom at all. It is license and selfishness. It leads to cruelty and perpetration. It leads to slavery and death of our humanity. So, this is a prayer and a call for help in the tradition of a spiritual-- ‘Lord, set me free.’
