This song feels very expansive to me, and very hopeful. It comes out of the storyteller being surrounded by the Great Plains of Kansas in the midwest. It comes out of wonder at the weather and the animals and the vastness, and somehow in all of it, God. I need and want to hear and sing along with stories where hope is tangibly present-- the way the writer describes here. I can see the scene in my mind’s eye, and I felt it working on the arrangement and playing the parts and singing the lyrics. I am transported. I am more in touch with myself, and what’s around me, and I find that I am more connected to Love and Life.
When a song can do that for me, I am so grateful.
